Zongchang Yu – Co-founder & CEO
Zongchang co-founded XTAL in January 2014 and brings 20 years of experience in area of Computational Lithography software and capital equipment space. Prior to XTAL, Zongchang was the Manager of Applications Engineering at D2S, Inc. Previous to that, Zongchang was the Manager of Product Engineering at Brion (acquired by ASML in 2007). Zongchang was also Senior Product Research Engineer and Senior Development Engineer at KLA-Tencor. Zongchang started his career as Design Engineer at ULVAC in Japan after attaining his PhD from Harbin Institute of Technology.
Jiangwei Li – Co-founder & CTO
Jiangwei co-founded XTAL in January 2014 and brings 20 years of experience in commercial EDA software development. Prior to XTAL, Jiangwei spent 2 year in Beijing working on machine learning application for online advertisement. Previous to that, Jiangwei was the Senior Director of Engineering at Brion (acquired by ASML in 2007) responsible for OPC product. Jiangwei was Senior Software Architect at Synopsys (through the acquisition of Avant! in 2002). Jiangwei started out his career as R&D Engineer at TMA (which was acquired by Avant! in 1997) after graduating from Stanford and USTC.
Meng Wu - Chief Financial Officer
Meng joined XTAL in January 2016 as the CFO for the team. Prior to XTAL, Meng worked as consultant in finance industry for the past 10 years. Meng’s past clients include Macquarie Bank, AMP Capital Investors, Commonwealth Bank Australia, National Australia Bank, China Life Asset Management, Temasek Holdings and United Overseas Bank. During Meng’s consulting career, he mostly focused on Quantitative Finance, Financial Data Management, Economic Research and Financial Technology. Meng obtained his Bachelor of Actuarial Study in 2006, finished his Master of Applied Finance and CPA Australia while worked full time. Meng is currently doing his Master of Research in Economics via a distance course.
Hua-yu Liu - Chief Product Officer and General Manager
Hua-yu Liu joined XTAL in August 2015 and brings 25+ years of management and lithography experiences in electron-beam resist, process and system, resolution enhancement techniques of phase-shift mask, optical proximity correction and source optimization, statistic lithography process qualification and control, and advanced mask technologies. Prior to XTAL, Hua-yu was the Vice President, Process Window Enhancement Product Engineer responsible for product roadmap, specification, release, application solution development and implementation, at Brion ASML for 11 years. Previous to that, Hua-yu was the Group Director of the Technology Deployment team providing worldwide technical support and managing strategic account engagement programs at Synopsys’ Silicon Technology business unit after the acquisition of Numerical Technologies in 2003. Hua-yu was the Vice President of Lithography Technologies and Applications at Numerical Technologies managing lithography roadmap, application engineering, strategic programs, product and technical product marketing from 1998 to 2003. Prior to Numerical, she was the Member of Technical Staff at Hewlett Packard ULSI Research Lab and Circuit Technology Group.
Hua-yu has 25 US patents and close to 100 technical publications.
Bill Lee - Executive Vice President, Worldwide Operations
Bill joined XTAL in July 2015 and brings 25+ years of management and sales experience in various venture-funded startup companies in the semiconductor and software space. Prior to XTAL, Bill served as the Vice President, Worldwide Sales at D2S Inc. from 2009 to 2015. Previous to that, Bill was the Vice President, Physical Verification Business Unit (PVBU) at Magma Design Automation (acquired by Synopsys in 2011) from 2006 to 2009. Bill was also the Vice President, Worldwide Sales at Brion Technologies (acquired by ASML in 2007) from 2004 to 2006. Other related experiences: VP, Asia Sales at Numerical Technologies Inc. (acquired by Synopsys in 2003) from 1998 to 2003, Director, Asia Sales at Technology Modeling Associates (TMA, acquired by Avant! in 1997) from 1994 to 1997. Bill started out his career in a Purchasing role at Samsung Semiconductor Inc. after graduating from UC Davis with a BA in Economics in 1991.
Song Lan - Vice President of Engineering
Song joined XTAL in August 2015. He brings 10 years of experience in computational lithography as well as other processes simulation for semiconductor fabrication technologies. Prior to XTAL, Song was the Engineering Director at Brion Technologies (acquired by ASML in 2007). Song holds his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, and his Bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University.
